We are a small team building an AI scribe for special educational needs. We have one role open: a freelance Event Ambassador to join Andy, our CEO, on stand at education expos in London and Birmingham this autumn.

SEND/EdTech Event Ambassador (Freelance)

  • Location: In person at events across the UK
  • Dates: 9–10 October 2026 (TES SEND Show, London) and 18–19 November 2026 (Schools & Academies Show, Birmingham). Future events agreed ad hoc, e.g. BETT, EdTechX, NASEN Live
  • Pay: £250 per day, with travel, accommodation and meals covered

Who we are

Trellis is an early-stage EdTech startup on a mission to streamline admin and support learning. Backed by CivTech and the Scottish Government’s Learning Directorate, our AI-powered platform tackles one of the biggest drivers of teacher burnout: the paperwork behind Additional Support Needs (SEND) meetings and plans.

Our core principle is Human-in-Command. We use secure AI as a background assistant to transcribe meetings and draft structured plans and minutes, returning hundreds of hours to teachers so they can focus on supporting young people. Following a successful pilot across 7 local authorities, we are expanding rapidly.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic former teacher, SEND specialist or EdTech-savvy freelancer to join our CEO, Andy, on stand at upcoming major education expos.

Because Trellis supports complex, sensitive SEND meetings, you will not be doing hard sales or technical setups. Instead, you will be the friendly, knowledgeable face of Trellis: engaging school staff, sharing lived experience, showing them our app and gathering contact details.

  • Staffing our stand: Help start warm, engaging conversations with teachers, SENCOs and school leadership teams.
  • Guided app walkthroughs: Show visitors the journey through the Trellis app using our step-by-step walkthrough.
  • Contact capture: Collect details and notes from interested visitors so Andy and colleagues can follow up after the event.
  • Event planning (optional): If you have the skill and interest, we would love your input ahead of events – helping craft flyer copy, planning stand logistics or sourcing thoughtful giveaways.

All briefing time and prep work outside of event days is paid at the day rate, pro rata. Reasonable travel (standard class rail or equivalent from a UK location), accommodation where required, and meal expenses are covered by Trellis in line with our team travel policy. Events typically need an early start, or travelling the day before to set up before doors open.

What we are looking for

  • Education / SEND background: Experience working within UK education – e.g. ex-teacher, SENCO, teaching assistant, SEND practitioner, or in a relevant EdTech provider.
  • Engaging communicator: Warm, approachable, empathetic, and comfortable starting conversations with busy event attendees.
  • Tech-confident: Enthusiastic about technology and comfortable walking visitors through simple app walkthroughs on an iPad or laptop.
  • Availability: Fully available for 9–10 October (London) and 18–19 November (Birmingham). Future events to be agreed ad hoc.
  • Mission alignment: You understand teacher workload pressure and care about helping support vulnerable learners.
